ENCORE! Video Auditions

Video Audition Requirements
Singers who cannot attend the live auditions may submit a video audition, due by midnight the day before live auditions.
CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO AUDITION

The video audition consists of two parts:
Audition Part 1: Range
● Use a keyboard, pitch pipe, other instrument, or virtual piano/pitch pipe to give a starting pitch for each scale.
For an online example, use
www.musicca.com/piano
● Introduce yourself with your name.
● At a moderate and steady tempo, sing an ascending major scale to demonstrate the
top of your comfortable singing range. Choose a pitch in the middle of your range and
sing to the highest comfortable pitch. Sing beyond one octave if needed.
● At a moderate and steady tempo, sing a descending major scale to demonstrate the
bottom of your comfortable singing range. Choose a pitch in the middle of your range
and sing slightly beyond your lowest comfortable pitch. Sing beyond one octave if needed.
● NOTE: You may sing on numbers, solfege syllables, or a neutral syllable of your choice.
See example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlstW8lQ6xA

Audition Part 2: Solo Performance
● Select a song or excerpt from a song (90-seconds to 2-minutes) of your preferred solo. It can be any genre you prefer
(recommended:
classical, folk, jazz, musical theater), but should be a song that you would be interested in performing as a solo if selected.
● You may perform this with or without accompaniment. Accompaniment can be live or recorded.
It must be audible, but not overpower your voice on your audition video.
An unaccompanied performance (i.e., a cappella) is also quite acceptable, so do not feel compelled to pursue accompaniment.

● Announce the title and composer of your song or excerpt.
● Perform your song or excerpt, with or without accompaniment, for at least 90 seconds but not more than about two minutes.
If you need to go slightly beyond two minutes to complete the musical phrase, that is acceptable.

" I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity.
It's something we are all touched by.
No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music.
