What will choir look like this year? (2021-2022)
Cary-Apex Youth Choir will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation, including keeping up-to-date with guidelines and procedures put forth by the CDC, local health department and schools and reviewing scientific research as it is released. We will respond accordingly by making appropriate adjustments to our rehearsal space and procedures as necessary. Enrollment may be capped based on capacity with physical distancing in our rehearsal space. Cary-Apex Youth Choir remains committed to providing a safe, engaging and rewarding music experience for its singers throughout the year. Participants should be prepared to be flexible to changing conditions, if necessary.
Indoor Rehearsals - Singing time inside will be managed based on the most current health & safety guidance for choirs, and may include rotating spaces.
We will...
Online Rehearsals - If conditions require, rehearsals may move temporarily to an online format through Zoom.
We will...
Performances - We have scheduled live performances for this season! However, the format of all performances will be based on health guidelines at the time. If a live performance with full audience is not possible, we may also consider reduced audience capacity, live-streaming, or video performances. On Dec. 4, 2021 we will offer a live concert with audience and provide a post-date virtual viewing option.

Indoor Rehearsals - Singing time inside will be managed based on the most current health & safety guidance for choirs, and may include rotating spaces.
We will...
- Use labeled spots or chairs to designate a standing location for each singer, maintaining physical distance
- Issue music to each singer - no sharing
- Provide a live-stream of rehearsal for singers who must be absent
- We may move to outdoor rehearsals, if necessary
- Report any case of COVID-19 within the household or close contacts & follow CDC guidelines for self-quarantines
- Be encouraged to leave after check-in & return for pick-up, or stay distanced during rehearsal
- Bring 1 bag containing their music folder, pencil pouch (use mechanical pencils or bring sharpener), and water bottle.
- Wear a mask for the duration of rehearsal indoors. Masks are optional for outdoor activities.
Online Rehearsals - If conditions require, rehearsals may move temporarily to an online format through Zoom.
We will...
- Continue providing quality instruction including rehearsal of repertoire, group discussions related to our studies, and possibly guest presenters (composers, conductors, special interests)
- Consider a reduction in rehearsal length, if appropriate, to avoid "Zoom fatigue"
- Need a quiet, private space with reliable internet connection
- Bring their materials and actively participate
